Read,committed any offences according to the laws of this Colony. I
subuit te this inquiry that that an embly had, in fast,committed a 522
number of offences against the laws of the Colony. I submit, firstly,
that it was an unlawful assembly, and I am going te ocrry that still

the definitions of an unlawful assembly and a riotene assembly we
shall appreciate that one is an extension of the other. Then we
have reviewed those definitions and judicial decisions as to what
are unlawful end rieteus assemblies,I do not think you will have
any difficulty in coming to the conclusion that this particular
ssembly with which we are dealing was not only an unlawful assembly
but a riotous assembly. Both of these are offences according to the
laws of this Colony. I submit that the assembly was an unlawful
pssembly and a ristous assembly and, also, that it was guilty of
criminal conspiracy. I will meto authorities to establish that in
the mind of this inquiry. Further, I submit that this assembly was,
in effect, a pro-conocived contravention of the laws of thie
Colony. There are various laws, one of which, according to recently
passed legislation,was that ne ene might leave the Jeleny vi thout
obtaining prepeer permissica, I submit that the assembly was guilty
of assaulting the Pelios from which certain umbo, uonos a flow: that
it obstructed the Felice in the course of their duty:that it
disobeyed the lwful orders of the Felice: that it was quilt of a
breach of the peace: that it completely defied the Government of
this Colony:that it did ita utmost to hold the Government of this
Celeny up to contempt and ridiculo, I further submit it was guilty
of releasing a parson under arrest of a police officer. The assembly
wes,in feet,guilty of no less than ten brasakos of the laws of this
Colony. I will deal with these offences one by one and quote you
