I am directed by Mr. Secretary Churchill to inform you that, subject to your being purged by the Medical Adviser of this Department as physically fit for service, he proposes to select you for probationary appointment as an assistant Mistress in the Education Department of Hong Kong, with Salary at the rate of £500 a year, rising by annual increments of £20 to £540 a year.

  1. The currency of Hong Kong is a silver dollar currency, the exchange value of the dollar with sterling varying with the price of silver. The salaries fixed in sterling are paid to officers actually serving in Hong Kong at a rate of conversion fixed by the Government. This rate is now 2/- the dollar, but is liable to alteration. In view, however, of the fluctuation of the exchange value of the dollar a temporary exchange allowance is paid, varying from 9% of salary when exchange ...
