Dear Sir,

3, FREDERICK'S PLACE,

OLD JEWRY,

LONDON, E.C. 2.

31st January 1921

Our New York office have asked us to take up the question of

a claim against Hamburg Under-writers for damage to the stern frame of

the B.S. "Nile", which arose before the war, out settlement of which

had not been made at 4th August 1914.

The ship was originally owned by the Mile Steamship Co. Ltd..

a Company incorporated in Hong Kong on the 30th December 1912 under

the Companies Ordinances of Hong Kong 1911 and 1913. The vessel was

operated by the Pacific Mail Steamship Co. for the owners and in 1914

and 1915 was under charter to the British Government. In 1916 it

appears to have been sold to the Southern Pacific Co. of New York.

The amount of the claim ie $1,027.16 which can be supported

by the Average Adjuster's statement. Owing to the fact that at the

time the damage took place and at the outbreak of war the ship wAB owned by a British Company registered in the Colonies, we should be glad to know whether a claim can be put forward through your office or
