With further adference to the proposed

Supplemental Charter of the Chartered Bank of India,

Australia and China, (39765/21), I am directed by the

Lords Commissionere of His Majesty's Treasury to

transmit herewith a copy of a further letter (with

enclosure) which They have received from that Bank.

Prima facie, My Lords see no objection to

the granting of the additional powers sought by the

Chartered Bank, but They would be glad to be favoured

with the views of Mr. Secretary Churchill in the

matter.
