With reference to your letter No.31786/21 of the 7th ultimo on the subject of the cargo ex 9.8. "TOKUYAMA MARU" discharged at Hong Kong, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state, for the information of Mr. Secretary Churchill that, in view of the instructions which have been given to the Governor of Hong Kong regarding the sale of the material, they would be glad to be informed whether it will be convenient to the Government of Hong Kong to recover the storage charges for 1920 amounting to $11,195.16 from the proceeds of the sale of the goods.
I am further to enquire whether the payments made by the Ministry of Shipping in respect of charges incurred prior to 1920 can be recovered in the same manner and credited to this Department.
