Sir,
За
te the
Trade please
I am directed by the Board of Trade
receipt of your letter of the 25th instant (28454/1921) and
in reply to state for Hr. Secretary Churchill's infomation
that the statement in the fourth paragraph of the letter
from the Trade Mark Owners Association, Limited, accurately
states the amount of fees charged when a newly registered
Mark is associated with a mark of a group of marks already
on the Register.
The Office practice is as follows:- Suppose AB to be
a Mark about to be registered as associated with Marks AC and
AD already on the Register. The Schedule of fees authorises a charge of 2/- for each entry and in accordance therewith on payment of the fee an entry is made in a separate volume as
follows :-
AC
associated
wi th
AB
At the same time a reference to the separate volume is placed
in the Register against each mar: as follows:-
Associated, See volume
mage
When a group
of associated Harks is once set up, additions are made there- to from time to time the charge being 2/- for each entry.
If, as sometimes happens, a Mark has to be associated with more than one group, a charge under the Schedule is made of 2/- for each additional group. For instance, con- tinuing the above illustration, we might have a fourth mark AE to be registered as associated with previous mark 3.
