With reference to your letters of 12th February (6710/30/21) and 22nd April, on the subject of the Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state for the information of Mr. Secretary Churchill that the Public Trustee reports that in pursuance of paragraph 1(XVII)(c) of the Treaty of Peace Order 1919 he was registered in May 1930 as the proprietor of all the shares in the corporation registered in the names of German nationals appearing on the London register of the Corporation and that these steps were taken at the request of the Corporation.

I am to add that the Public Trustee is in course of disposing of all the shares in the Corporation
