220 September 1921,

I am a Chinese subject, aged 21 years, and was born

at Kwong Kwee, Taien Tien, Canton, China.

I resided with my parents at Kwong Kwee until

the beginning of this year and when I write home I address my letters to Wah Cheung Lung, Post Office Box, 1195, 206, Desbouex Road, Hong

Kong.

I was a farm labourer when at home. Someone belonging to my

native town wrote to me from Hong Kong and told me that there was a ship going to England and arrangements could be made to take me to England and it mentioned that I would have to pay 450 Chinese dollars and also that there was plenty of work and good wages in England. I borrowed money from some of my friends and went to Hong Kong and stayed at Wah Cheung LUNG'S sho I paid 450 Chinese dollars to a number one fireman, whose name I do not know, but who is employed on a Blue Funnel Boat, in Lung's shop, on the understanding that he took me to England. The cook, and other boarders in Lung's shop were present when I paid the money. Lung, himself, was not present and I

The number one fireman had no conversation with him about the matter. took me on board the ship the morning after I paid hi. the money. During the voyage I lived in the forecastle with the members of the crew but I did not do any work. The ship left Hong Kong on February 28th, 1921. (Chinese Date). It called at Singapore and then went to Holland where the ship stayed four days and then came to England and I landed at the same place where I got my Consular Certificate and Certificate of Registration (Cheltenham). I do not know the name of the port at which we arrived. I was taken ashore by number one fireman and left stranded in the street. I walked about the street and an Englishman gave me some work washing dishes in the shop and he paid me four shillings a week. I do not know this man's name or where
