To threaten reprisals over a disputed point of

law would seem undignified and to carry them into

execution would often be not expedient nor easy.

Failing reprisals or physical force, of other

mcans of obtaining redress there would appear to be

none.

of which I enclose a copy, together with a copy of my

reply thereto.
