instrumentatiity or the German authorities in realizing
about M.16,632,35 on account of the deposits in the above-
mentioned bank, but on application to its branch office at
Hanburg was informed that, owing to the fluctuations in the
value of the mark, it was impossible there to estimate the
amount with which the account should be discounted and that
this information could only be furnished by the Shanghai à Hong Kong,
Clearing House in London.
Under these circumstances the Chargể d'Arraizes, while
transmitting herewith a translation of Mr. Prien's certificate
or nationality, ventures to express the hope that his Lordship wi11
be good enough to osuse the competent authorities to furnish
this Legation with the desired data and also to use his beat
endeavours to the end that Mr. Prien and his family may at an
early date be enabled to resume possession of their remaining
asseta in the bank as well as of the proceeds of the sale of
the business,
