SECTION 1.
Sir,
Board of Trade to Foreign Office.—(Received June 3.)
Board of Trade, June 1, 1921. WITII reference to your letter of the 21st May, I am directed by the Board of Trade to state, for the information of Earl Curzon of Kedleston, that the control of the exports of dangerous drugs will be taken over by the Home Ollice within the next week or two. Meanwhile the Board agree with Lord Curzon's view that no further Hoances to export opium to Formosa should be issued until the competent Japanese authorities have furnished such explanations regarding the drug traffic in that island as may be regarded as satisfactory in the opinion of His Majesty's Government, and instructions to that effect have been given in this Department. A copy of this letter is being sent to the Home Office.
