I am directed by Mr.Secretary

Churchill to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 18 th April No. F 1043/ 15/10 on the subject of the exportation

of Raw Opium from Hong Kong to Formosa.

2. I am to request that the

attention of Earl Curzon of Kedleston

may be invited to section 10 of Hone Kong Ordinance No.4 of 1914, (of which a copy is enclosed) from which it will

be seen that the export of raw opium from the Colony is subject to strict

control.

3. A copy of this correspondence

is being transmitted to the Governor of Hong Kong for any observations which he

may have to offer on the subject.
