The Bastern Extension Australasia & China
Telegraph Company, Limited,
Electra House,
Finsbury Pavement,
London, S.C.2.
3rd March 1921,
Dear Mr.
Brown,
I have to thank you for your letter of the
1st instant in regard to Cable and Wireless
Communication in China.
After our interview at the Foreign Office
last week, I communicated the views then expressed
to the Great Northern Company, who have replied that,
in their opinion, the questions call for verbal
discussion between the two Companies, and, consequently,
their Managing Director (Mr. Suenson) will come over to
London for that purpose at the end of next week,
In these circumstances, I will delay replying
to your letter until I have fully discussed its
details with Mr. Buenson,
In the meantime, I send you a copy of a telegr
received from the Companies' Representatives in China
giving the Director-General's reply to the Companies'
joint protest against the violation of their Agreements
with the Administration by the Chinese Government
Brown, Esq., C.B.E., Assistant Secretary,
General Post Office,
E.0.1.
