A letter has now been received by us from: the Government of Hong Kong stating that Mr. Culliford is retiring from the Service of the Colony. This, however, was not re- ceived by us until after we had given him in. structions regarding his medical examination ■ and he was actually examined by Dr. Prout the day before the letter was received in this Office.
