transmission to the Clearing Office, returns of the proceeds of the realisation of German assets in this Colony. These consist of statements of accounts, in duplicate, of 285 estates, copies of liquidators' reports in the case of firms which were liquid- ated, and a summary of the amounts held on account of German assets. A list is added showing the original and present

addresses of the firms and individuals concerned, so far as

those are known.

2.

In Viscount Hilner's Circular despatch of the 29th December, 1920, returns up to only the 31st December, 1920, were asked for, but as very little hed then been realised beyond the assets of the firms liquidated, the statements now forwarded have been made up to the 30th June, 1921, so as to include the bulk of all the German assets in the Colony.

3.

4.

Accounts of persons or firms claiming new nationality under the Treaty of Peace have been omitted.

It will be observed that in the summary the assets of the Siemens China Electrical Company (Hongkong), Limited, have been included. The facts with regard to this Company are

out in my predecessor's Confidential despatches of the 29th April, 1916, and the 17th May, 1917.
