HONGKONG. 13th July, 1921.
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt
of your despatch No.122 of 30th April regarding the exportation of Raw Opium from Hongkong to Formosa.

The restrictions on the exportation of raw opium from this Colony are to be found in Section 10 of the Opium Ordinance No.4 of 1914, which reads as follows:-
(1) No person shall remove any raw opium for exportation without a permit in Form No.2 in the Schedule and except in accordance with the conditions in such permit contained.
(2) Such permit may in his discretion be issued by the Superintendent upon receipt of a requisition in triplicate in Form No.2 of the Schedule.
(3) Before issuing any permit under the provisions of this section the Superintendent may demand the production of any invoices, shipping orders, bills of lading, certificates, permits or other documents relating to the raw opium in respect of which a requisition has been received and the person making the requisition shall on such demand produce the same.
(4) The Superintendent may impose such further conditions as he may think fit in connection with the issue of any permit under this section.
