AGREEMENT made the thirteenth day of May One thousand nine
hundred and twenty-one BETWEEN THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS
acting for and on behalf of the Government of Hongkong
(hereinafter called the Government) of the one part and ALLAN
KIRK of Hongkong aforesaid (hereinafter called the person
engaged) of the other part.
WHEREBY it is agreed by and between the parties hereto as
followe :-
1. The person engaged is hereby selected for appointment on
the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth to be an
Assistant Engineer in the Public Works Department of Hongkong. 2. The person engaged shall commence his duties in Hongkong (hereinafter called the Colony) on the ninth day of September
One thousand nine hundred and twenty-one and shall perform
the duties of the appointment for a period of three years
commencing from that date which paiod may be extended as
provided in Clause 10. In this respect time shall be regarded
as being of the essence of the contract.
3.
The Cuties of the person engaged shall include the usual
duties of the appointment as well as any other suitable duties
which the Government may fall upon him to perform.
4. The person engaged shall during the time he shall continue
in the service of the Government reside in such place and occupy himself in such manner as the Gorrnment through its duly authorised officers shall direct and he shall not directly or indirectly engage or be concerned in any other
service or business whatsoever or receive commissions or
profits of any kind but shall devote the whole of his time and attention to the service of the Government and he shall use his
utmost exertions to promote the interests of the Government. 6. The Government shall pay the person engaged during the
continuance of his services salary at the rate of Four hundred
pounds
