The Honourable

The Colonial Secretary.

gir,

Public Works' Office,

Hongkong,

4th February, 1921.

14

We, the undersigned members of the Engineering Staff of the Public Works Department, have the honour to acknowledge your communication 3075/1920 dated 23rd December, 1920, on the subject of the revised rates of salaries attached to our appointments. The letter referred to was circulated to us through the Honourable Director of Public Works.

2. We regret to learn that the Secretary of State for the Colonies was unable to entertain those applications for

concessions.

3. We are extremely dissatisfied with the revised rates of salaries attached to our appointments and are of opinion that our profession is valued at too low an estimate in the service of the Colony, and we would therefore humbly petition His Excellency the Governor to reconsider the memorial dated 23rd June, 1920, which was put forward on behalf of the Engineering Staff.

We have, &c.,
