Sir,
I have the honour to inform Your Excellency that in the monthly return of opium ("Resumo do movimento do opio") for January supplied to the Superintendent of Imports and Exports in Hongkong 71 chests of Persian opium and in the Merch return 150 chests of Eenares opium are shown under the heading "Negociantes".
I should be obliged if Your Excellency would inform me what the significence of this term is and also whet was the ultimate destination of the opium in question.
