My dear Purse,
Sir David asks me to write to you with reference to the vacancy in Hong Kong, for a Superintendent of the Botanical and Forestry Department in continuation of his letter of April 14th.

The obvious person for the post,as you are well
aware is Mr. L. T. Dawe and as the Him Kong Government

appear now to we prepared to offer a higher initial salary| it seems that it might be advisable to caple to Mr. Lawe and ask him if he would we prepared to accept the appointment at the higher salary.

Should you deem that this course.cannot be taken, we think you might consider kr. 4. J. Drocks, Agricultural Superintendent, St. Lucia, for the post. The duties of the|| post appear, from the Governor's despatch or April zlat, 1920, to be mainly of an agricultural nature and as Mr. Brocks has performed his agricultural duties in St. Lucia in a very satisfactory manner and has done a great deal to increase roca supplies in the island we think ue is worthy or consideration.
Mr. Brook" name has been mentioned in other
connections and though he is not so strong a candidate
