Con 264357/20

With reference to my despatch No. of the 16th

of April, 1920, I have the honour to state that, subject to Your

Lordship's approval, I have appointed Major Christopher Willson,

0.B.E., to the post of First Clerk, Magistracy, with effect from 31st December, 1920. A copy of a letter addressed to Major

Willson is enclosed.

2. Prior to the war Major Willson was a member of a

private firm of solicitors in the Colony. On the outbreak of war he returned to England, was granted a Commission, and served in

the Army throughout the war. He was recently decorated with the Military 0.B.E. awarded for distinguished service in Russia. On

his return to the Colony early in 1920 Major Willson was appointed temporarily to act as Assistant Superintendent of Victoria Gaol during the absence on leave of Mr. Franks, and also as First

Clerk at the Magistracy from the date of Mr. Woodcock's departure

on retirement. Major Willson has performed the duties of both posts in a satisfactory manner, and I shall be glad if Your Lordship will sanction his permanent appointment to the vacant post of First Clerk for which his personal character and experi- -ence render him suitable,

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
