S.S. TYNDAREUS" T.P.Voy.8.

When the above steamer was in port, Mr. Robinson, your Vancouver representative, had the question of inspection up with you by wire, with the result that the steamer was inspected here.

At the present time the following "Blue Funnel" steamers, "Ixion", "Talthybius", "Teucer" and "Tyndareus", owned by Mesare. Alfred Holt & Co., Liverpool, are carrying Chinese steamers steerage passengers, and 6 European passengers between

These steamers are all British Columbia ports and the Orient. registered at Liverpool, and hold Hongkong Board of Trade Certi- ficate, as well as United States Certificate.

It is our understanding from Mr. Robinson that the Department has refused to honour the Hongkong Certificate, and it will be necessary to have all the steamers inspected here.

Please confirm.

We would also like to know if the British Board of

Trade Certificate will be honoured, or if the United States Certi-

ficate would have any bearing, on Canadian inspection. The s.8.

"Ixion" is due about the 19th of this month, and we would thank

you to telegraph at our expense if it will be necessary to inspect the steamer here, even though the vessel holds an unexpired Hongkong certificate.

We would appreciate it very much if you would kindly

mail us three copies of the Act pertaining to the inspection of

steamships.

Yours faithfully,

Per Pro DODWELL & CO.,LTD.
