R. QU.

leaving Liverpool on the 16th, inst.

I have already booked berths 69 and 12 70 for myself

and wife by the Delta. I have written to my Govern

explaining that I may be a few days late and asking

for a few days extension of leave to cover the few

days in January before my return. The deposit of £14

in respect of the berths has been paid and I cannot

cancel the passages unless I forfeit the deposit.

Further I came home via Canada, and the cost of the

trip is very heavy. It cost me £140 and $100 gold in

addition to my passage money.

When I wrote to you on the 1st. I did not know whe

we were entitled to passages. I have this morning

received from Mr. Halifax copies of several Circules

relating to the new pay rules.

"I

Circular No.88 of the 25th. May, section 9, runs as

follows: If an officer wishes to make private an........

ments for his passage, such officer will upon pro-

duction of his passage tickets receive a sum equival

to the actual cost to the Government of such Govern

passages as he may be entitled to".

Under section 3 of the same circular I am entitled:

lat, clase passage by mail steamer.

I had no wish to make any private arrangement, but ⠀⠀
