REC'D 13 FEB 20

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt

of your letter dated 22 December 1919 re Pensions for the Hong Kong Pensioners. As yet I have not received any increase.

In my letter dated the 15th December I requested you to be so good as to let me have my increase by February (viz this month) to enable me to pay my Income Tax, City & Parish Rates &c to save my home from being sold up. The City & Parish Rates are overdue; and I received a letter yesterday (the 11th inst.) from the Collector of Income Tax, stating that my Income Tax must be paid within 7 days. I would therefore request you to be so kind as to direct the Crown Agents for the Colonies to forward on my back pension of £20 (Twenty Pounds sterling) to pay my Taxes &c; and save my home from being broken up. I mention that the Hong Kong dollar has risen to 6/2d which means a saving to the Govt. of 2d on every dollar of my pension.

Trusting that you will grant my humble request
