He resigned from the service in Mozambique early in the year 1914, having completed his contract,in order to take up a planting pro- position in Brazil. This however he was obliged to abandon on thee outbreak of war,in consequence of the financial crisis there.

Mr.Dawe then returned to London, and offered his services,together with the late Captain Selous,t. Colonel Driscoll's force, the Legion og Frontieramen, which was then being formed to proceed to East Africa, owing however to having no military training he was rejected.

Service in the Republic of Colombia.

In July 1915, Mr Dawe was appointed, through the Foreign Office and the British Legation of Bogota,Director of Agriculture and Agricultural Adviser to the Colombian Government, which position he held until June of last year,having been compelled to resign owing to the financial situation of the Government, and consequent lack of funds for the projected agricultural services (see references No.13). His resignation actually took place in March 1919, but since that date Mir Dave has continued to assist the Ministry of Agriculture,äs Agricultural Adviser, voluntary and without remuneration (see references 14 to 17).

While in Colombia Mr.Dawe has undertaken important journeys in different parts of the country, and reports on these journeys have been published in the Revista Agricola, publication of the Ministry, and elsewhere. A pamphlet, published in English, giving an "Account of a Journey down the Magdalena River, through the Magdalena Province and the Peninsula of Goajira, Colombia”,is forwarded, A more com- prehensive report giving an "Account of a Journey from Tolima to the
