With reference to Colonial Office letter No. 63275/1919 of 21st November last, I beg to inform you that the Master in Lunacy has allotted the sum of £140 per year for the maintenance of my brother out of the pension to be awarded. I understand that by the regulations the amount of the latter will be about £180, which would leave £40 a year for my brother's wife and child. In view of the pitiably small amount available, I beg to submit the matter in case any compassionate allowance might be awarded.
I should be very glad if an early decision on the subject of my letter of 5th November could be possible and that in the meantime the payment of full pay could be continued.
I am, sir,
Your obedient servant
