With your letter of 9th July AHC/HGF you informed us that the Hongkong Custodian would fix the rate of exchange for the conversion of other currencies into Hongkong currency, and we thereupon telegraphed to our Hongkong Office requesting them to ascertain these rates from the Custodian there, advis- ing us of them by latter. The text of our telegram to Hong-
ong was contained in our letter to you of 14th July.
In this connection cur Hongkong Office now telegraph us as follows:-
"Re your wire 14th July Hongkong Custodian cannot fix 'conversion rate into our currency for sundry currencies "such as Guilders, Pesos, Taals, etc. without instructions "from London he suggests you consult London Clearing Office".
May be ask in view of this message if it is still intended that the Hongkong Custodian should fix the rates of exchange required, and if so whether the necessary instructions are being cabled to him.
