Sir,

With further reference to your letter No. 63994/1919, of the 27th November, 1919, forwarding a copy of a despatch and enclosure from the officer Administering the Government of Hong Kong, regarding the award of the Silver War Badge for service in the Hong Kong Volunteer Corps or Hong Kong Defence Corps, I am

commended by the Army Council to state that enrolled members of

the Hong Kong Defence Corps who have complied with the conditions

of Army Order 29 of 1919 are eligible for the award of the Silver

War Badge.

I am to add, as regards War Medals, that home service

does not under existing regulations qualify for such award, and

that therefore it does not appear that members of the Hong Kong

Volunteer Corps or Hong Kong Defence Corps can be considered

eligible for the award of the British War or Victory Medal under

Army Orders 266 and 301 of 1919.

Under Secretary of State,

Colonial Office,

S.7.1.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,
