I have laid before the Lords Commissioners

of His Majesty' Treasury Mr. Grindle's letter of the

16th instant (55424/1920), enclosing copy of a

telegram from the Governor of Hong Kong, stating that the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation propose

to deposit bonds of the Government of the Straits Settlement to the value of $2,000,000 as part security

for note issue other than excess note issue, and

suggest that the deposit of the security should be

with the Government of the Straits Settlement.

In reply My Lorde direct me to state that
