Although thus described, the names are the same as those which were returned to the Public Trus- kee (in respect to the London Register) on Registration Order C, form 4 in accordance with the Trading with the Enemy Amendment Acts and are those of 'enemies' as defined in Proclamation No. 2 of 9th Sept.

914 which defined 'enemy' as any person or body of persons of whatever ationality resident or carrying on business in the enemy country, It ccordingly follows that the list sent to you may include the names of ersons who are not enemy subjects and it may not include the names of ersons who may be enemy subjects or citizens but were not resident in

pemy countries,

We also sent you on the 23rd November liate on Schedule A. lating to enemy nationals on the Hongkong and Shanghai Registers ose dividends (in part or in whole) were paid by us to the Public ustee during the period of the war, Instead of stating enemy tionale these lists should have stated enemies" as defined in Pro-

We do not know the nationality of all the shareholders whose

asking how we could ascertain which of the names appearing in our are those of German subjects, We have not yet received any ruling his question.

Although there are certain shareholders on the London Register
