Within the last few days I have received from the Rev. G.8. Muir, Secretary of the Edinburgh Anti-Opium Committee, copies o letters sent to him from the India office, Whitehall. The arguments contained in those letters are considered subject to reply, and such a reply has been prepared by the members of the Board of Directors whom you were good enough to receive a few days ago. I now beg to enclose copies of these letters from the India Office, and of the reply that has been prepared, so that Your Excellency may know what is the latest commini- cation we have received from England," and the impression produ- ced here.
