The China (Companies) Amendment

Order in Council, 1919,

Articles 6 to 8.

I have the honour to address you with reference to

the above Order in Council and to ask that you will be go

good as to favour this Company with your directions on the

pointe set out hereunder.

This Company was incorporated on the 18th April, 1917,

with a capital of Shanghai Taels 100,000, and up to the

present time its operations have been confined to the busi-

ness of marine insurence. The Company has not heretofore

carried on business in Hongkong, and consequently no deposit

has been made with the Registrar of Companies there under

Section 5 of the Fire and Marine Insurance Companies Ordi- nanos, 1917. My Directors are now anxious to comply with the provisions of the new Order in Council, but as the posi- tion created by Articles 6 to 8 is an entirely new one for China Companies, they would be grateful to receive such assistance as you may be in a position to afford them.

In the first place it is noted that under Section 5 (6) of the Ordinance insurance companies carrying on busi- ness in Hongkong at the commencement of the Ordinance were
