BOARD OF TRADE.

12th August, 1920.

I am directed by the Board of Trade to forward for the

information of Earl Curzon of Kedleston a copy of a letter dated

6th August from the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation asking

that a cable might be despatched to the Custodians at Hongkong and Shanghai respectively authorising them to pay over to the Corporation the dividends on the Corporation's shares corresponding to the pay-

ments made by their Hamburg Office in respect of same,

The Board of Trade have authorised the Public Trustee

to make similar re-payments to the Corporation in respect of the shares which are on the London Register and it appears to the Board

that a similar authority should be given to the Custodians at Hongkong and Shanghai, but the Board of Trade have no authority

to give any such instructions,

+

I am therefore to suggest that you should move Earl Curzon to take such steps as he may deem desirable in the matter and to communicate direct with the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking

Corporation.

I have the honour to be,

sir,

The Under-Secretary of State, Your obedient Servant,

Foreign Office,

S..1.

(SGD)

H. M. WINBARLS,

E.C. BLISS
