In reply to your note No.1295 of the 12th instant, I have the honour to state that His Majesty's Government consider that they will become bound by the provisions of the Opium Convention of 1912, as from the date when, the French Government, having made to the Netherlands Government the commies tion provided for in the third paragraph of Article 295 of the Treaty of Versailles, the Netherlands Government shall have expressed their readiness to accept the certified copy of the Frotocols of the deposit of ratifications of the Peace Treaty as if it were a deposit of ratifications of the Opium Convention and a signature of the additional Protocol of

1914.

His Majesty's Goverment are enquiring of the French Government as to the steps which they are taking in order to give effect to the third paragraph of Article 295 of the

Peace Treaty.
