With reference to Foreign Office letter No.173659, of the 28th January, I am directed by Earl Curzon of Kedleston to transmit herewith copies of two telegrams, from His Majesty's Minister at Peking and His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton respectively, on the subject of the difficulties which have arisen at Macao.

Copy is also enclosed of draft of a telegram in reply to Mr. Jamieson which is being submitted to the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty for their concur-

rence.
