The Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs
presents his compliments to the Under-Secretary of
State for the Colonies, and begs leave to acknowledge
with thanks the receipt of Colonial Office letter
of the 23rd instant, marked "pressing Secret", en-
closing a paraphrase of a telegram from the Governor
of Hong Kong regarding the situation at Macao.
The Under-Secretary of state would be grateful
if instructions could be despatched to the Governor
to repeat all such telegrams to sir John Jordan at
Peking and to His Majesty's Consul-General at Canton,
if he does not do so already.
