I beg to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 27th
ult. enclosing a cover addressed to Sir. H. Benson which please
find returned herewith.
Owing to failing health, I feel compelled to respect- fully inform you that I do not feel physically fit to resume
duty in Hong Kong, and I shall therefore be thankful if you will
be pleased to accept my resignation on pension as from the ex-
piration of my 9 months leave.
As I had no leave previous to this since 1910, I
crave payment of full pay until my leave expires.
