Sir,
I am taking the liberty of writing to you, having
read in the local Hong Kong paper that you were due to arrive
in England by the e,s. Mentor during this month. Asking if
there is any possibilty of my being reinstated as a member
of the Hong Kong Police Force, I was invalided from the
force on the 19th November, 1918 in England after being
invalided from the Army. I came home to England to rejoin
Hong Kong Police in 1915.

On being invalided from the Army on the 29th October 1917,
the Medical Adviser to the Crown Colonies recommended me for
sick leave until the 5th August 1918. On reexamination he
stated I was unfit for patrol duty but fit for clerical
duties.
On the 19th November 1918 I received communication
from the Secretary of State for the Colonies stating they
had no suitable appointment vacant for me. Since then Sir
