With reference to your letter of the 1st
March, relative to the temporary advance in salaries
granted to the European employees of the Government
of Hong Kong who have been recruited from Home, I am
commanded by My Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty
to acquaint you that they have noted the information
contained therein, and to request that the Secretary
of State may be pleased also to furnish them, with
regard to paragraph 2 of your letter, with full
particulars as to any further improvements on account
of the increased cost of living which he may authorise
for these employees.
I am to return herewith, the copy of the
Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure of the Colony at
Hong Kong for the year 1920, which was enclosed with
your letter under reply.
