I consider that these proposals are in the interests of the Colony, and that Sir Robert Jardine's con- sent to the surrender of Inland Lot 1464 on the terme suggested is largely prompted by a desire to benefit the Colony, and that if he insisted on his full legal rights he could doubtless obtain greater pecuniary benefit from the possession of Inland Lot 1464.

I therefore strongly recommend that the proposals should be approved, and in order that the matter may not be delayed I should be glad to have Your Lordship's consent by telegraph.
