No.C.R.C.C.4444/237,

Headquarters,

Sir,

387

China Command,

Hongkong, 27th August, 1920.

With reference to your letter No.3530/1917 of the 20th August, 1920, I would refer you to former corres- pondence on the subject of the effects of Prisoners of War, your number 3548/1916.

All the effects of enemy subjects in possession of the Assistant Provost Marshal were handed over to the Commandant, Prisoner of War Camp, Lieut.-Colonel A. V. Alexander, 74th Punjabis, prior to their departure for Australia, and handed over by him to Lieut.-Colonel R. S. Sands, Commandant,, German Concentration Camp, Liverpool, New South Wales. I have been unable to trace Lieut.-Colonel Sands' receipt for these articles in detail.

Itis not know therefore if the articles men- tioned (i.e. Kodak and opera glasses) were actually taken from Herr Hans Adolph, but his name appears in the Prisoner of War Records.

Sd.

I have, etc.

W. R. Nicholson,

Lieut.-Colonel,

D.A.A.& Q.M.G., China Command.

Honourable

The Colonial Secretary,

Hongkong.
