The market value of the land approximates

to $26,000.
(d).
The Government will pay $50,000 in cash to the Catholic Mission.
Under these terms the Government gets land of the market value of $138,000 against land and cash in a total sun of $121,000. It is true that the land in both cases can only be used for religious purposes, and that the Government is giving a slightly larger area than that which it receives; but the Catholic Mission's site is exceptionally well situated, and in fact is the only one available, for purposes of the school, and the Roman Catholic Bishop has intimated that, except for the fact that the site is required for the school, the Mission would not be prepared to part with it. I consider the terms reasonable and I ask Your Lordship's approval of them.
a.
With regard to the particular question of the Rhenish Mission's land and Chapel, I have addressed Your Lordship separately on the general question of property belonging to enemy missions. If the transfer of the property to the Catholic Mission is contrary to the policy of His Májesty's Government on the ground of diversity of creed, this Government might pay to the London Mission or to some other mission of suitable denomination a sum equal to the amount paid by the Rhenish Mission for the land in 1912 and the cost of the building upon it.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
7.E. Stufts
Governor,&c.
