GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 6th September, 1920.

With reference to my confidential despatch of
(q the 11th December, 1919, I have the honour to request 40 permission to introduce certain modifications in the general
scheme of salaries which on further consideration I regard as being desirable.
2.
I recommend the creation of two Senior Master- ships in the Education, Department with salary £750 rising to £850 by annual increments of £25. The posts of Second Master, Queen's College, and Head Master, Ellis Kadoorie School, have hitherto carried special rates of salary and the School Masters have only the posts of Inspector of English Schools and Head Master, Queen's College, to look forward to.
3.
I recommend an increase in the maximum salary of the Government Marine Surveyor from £800 to £850 by two further increments of £25.
4.
I recommend the creation of a second Senior Revenue Officer's post in the Imports and Exports Depart- ment, at a rate of £400 rising to £480 by annual increments of £20. This brings the department into line with other departments employing a similar type of man, and the auties are of a very responsible nature.
5.
