My Lord,
With reference to Your Lordship's despatch
No.215 of the 2nd July, 1920, I am directed to inform you that, in view of the state of Mr. Carprael's health, it was considered certain that he or his advisers would elect under Section 10 of the Widows and Orphans Pensions Ordinance to continue his contributions on the basis of his salary and on that account the deduction at the rate of 4% on his salary was inserted in the pension papers forwarded in my despatch No.382 of the 10th December, 1919.
It is, however, open for him to contribute on the basis of his pension only, but it should be noted
that if the decision is made to contribute on the lower
scale the widows and orphans pension is thereby reduced from £157.68.ld. per annum to £35.28.10d.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
humble servant,
7.E. Stretts
Governor,&c.
