With reference to my report on the statement of the Chen Pui embezzlement forwarded to you under cover of the Auditor's letter No.34 of 17th May, and my letter No.34 of 20th June, I have the honour to inform you that after further investigation I have come to the conclusion that the Police Indian Remittance Account should be credited with the sum of $2,949.38, being the Indian Police Remittance for November, the deficit which should appear in the Treasury Statement of Accounts under this heading should therefore be 817,805.93.

I submit a statement of the Indian Family Remittances duly signed by the Captain Superintendent of Police showing how this deficit is arrived at.
In the examination of the Treasury statement,
and during the period which has intervened since Chan Pui
ebaconded, the following small suma have been discovered,
and form part of the total deficit, and must therefore be
added to the amount found deficit in the Treasury statement.
