the 30th November, 1919. His absence was not noticed until Monday the 1st December when I was handed a note from him enclosing his keys and stating that he was too sick to attend office. Immediate enquiries were made and it was found that he had removed with his family from his family house and no trace of him could be found, A search of his

safe showed that very little cash had been left behind by

him.

Voucher 9. Outstanding payments Police and Fire Brigade $7,282.13. On November the 27th (Thursday) I had signed

a cheque in his favour for 74,633.82 part of total sun of

87,282.13 in Voucher No.9. This cheque he cashed and he converted the proceeds to his own use. Cheque No.G.127207 for 84,633.82 included the following which had to be paid

in cash:-
