As the result of my interview with the Private Secretary to H. E. the Governor, I was directed to put down in writing anything I may wish to say and send it on to you, this being, I was informed, the only way in which I can get the matter looked into officially.

I have therefore the honour to make, with all due respect, the following representation to H. E. the Governor in the matter of my status and prospects in the rublic Worka Department.

Overseer
I was appointed in 1901 19 years ago in charge of Telegraphs and Telephones and of Roade lying outside the Oity of Victoria. La 1906 I was divested of the Overseership of Roads, owing to the great increase in Telegraph and Telephone work.
In January 1913 the post of Electrician was created, and a man outside the Government Service was appointed over me, with greater pay and allowances.

Again, in the present year (April 1920) the post of Assistant Electrician was created and, once more, another "outsider" was appointed over me, also with greater pay and allowance8.
