With reference to my confidential despatch of the
23rd March, 1920, I have the honour to inform you that Mr.
has Pollock now informed me that he will not be able to act as a member of the Executive Council in the place of Sir Paul Chater, as he is leaving the Colony by the same steamer as the latter for a holiday of some months duration.
2.
In these circumstances I am arranging, as the least unsatisfactory solution of the difficulty, for the Hon. Mr. Percy Hobson Holyoak, Member of the Legislative Council, to act as a member of the Executive Council during Sir Paul's absence,
3.
I adhere to my recommendation as to the permanent appointment to the Executive Council of Mr. Pollock, which would most suitably be made from the date of his return to Hongkong.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
