the matter and, after some negotiation, terms have been arranged with Messrs. Butterfield and Swire, based broadly upon the suggestions made by the Director of Public Works in

The terms, which are set forth in detail hereunder, provide for the demolition by Messrs. Butterfield and Swire of the whole of their houses in the village and the surrender to Government of the whole of the areas indicated on the plan by cross-hatching in yellow, red, blue and green respectively in exchange for the area coloured red, - (which will be reclaimed by utilizing the material to be excavated and payment of the from the cutting between "A" and "B"), sum of $65,000 by way of compensation. The contents of the areas to be surrendered are approximately equal to that of the area coloured red. Apart from the sum of $65,000 payable by way of compensation, the cost of carrying out the improvement scheme is estimated at $230,000.
9.
The terms are as follows:-
(a). The whole of Quarry Bay Inland Lot 2, cross-hatched
in green, to be surrendered to Government free of cost by a date to be mutually arranged.
(b). The portions of Quarry Bay Inland Lots 7 and 8,
cross-hatched in blue and red respectively, to be surrendered to Government free of cost by a date to be mutually arranged.
(c). Such of the existing buildings, near the point
marked "A", as obstruct free access to the area cross-hatched in red and also the whole of the buildings, cross-hatched in yellow, to the south- -eustword of the entrance gate to the Sugar Refinery to be removed by the lessees at their om expense
