GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
HONGKONG. 28th February, 1920.

My Lord,
I have the honour to inform Your Lordship
that I have received an application from the Hongkong Hotel
Company, Limited, for an extension to Rural Building Lot
No. 142, situated at Repulse Bay on the south side of the
Island, which was bought by them at public auction on the
27th May, 1918, and on which they have now erected the
Repulse Bay Hotel. The extension, which is coloured red on
the enclosed plan, contains about 39,260 square feet, and is
desired by the Hotel Company for the purpose of erecting an
additional wing to the Hotel.
2.
As the ground is very steep and will
involve expensive cutting to develop, there would be no likeli
-hood of legitimate competition if the land were put up to public auction and for obvious reasons, it is undesirable to adopt such a course. I have therefore authorised the sale of this extension without public auction on the same terms and
conditions under which the original lot was sold and now
submit the matter for Your Lordship's approval.
I have the honour to be, My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obediant,
humble servant, 7.2. Stalls
